This year's cytomegalovirus bill, called HB 5525, has passed through the Public Health Committee. Here is a good summary of letters of testimony from the medical community, parents and concerned citizens: http://www.cga.ct.gov/2015/JFR/H/2015HB-05525-R00PH-JFR.htm
Right now, we are anxiously waiting for the House the vote on HB 5525. The bill is among this long list of other bills: House Calendar (5/4) [pdf]. Of course my fear is they will run out of time or the Senate will (last year, if you recall, the House passed it only two days before the end of the session and the Senate never called it to a vote). I believe this year's legislative session ends June 3, meaning we have less than a month to get the House and Senate to pass it.
This year, the Public Health Committee passed HB 5525 after removing the cytomegalovirus (CMV) prevention education part (that part costs money). It kept in the part mandating that a baby who fails the required hearing screen be tested for CMV. This will help those babies have a better chance of receiving critical treatment right away to improve outcomes.
If you live in CT, please urge your representatives to pass this bill. If you have a moment, calling their office is preferred, but emails, too, can go a long way. To find your Connecticut representatives:http://www.cga.ct.gov/ asp/menu/CGAFindLeg.asp.
If you want to email every member of the House of Representatives, see their emails below my signature.
Thank you!
